Neurological symptoms mean that my yoga practice consists of a series of tremors, shakes and general wobbliness. Legs jerk out at random and hands slap. More recently there are vocal expressions such as unprompted grunts and lip smacking. A short practice sparks a plethora of interesting shakes which lasts sometimes for more than an hour.
My Alexander teacher called this 'the unstructured dance'. I am learning that these movements can be observed and then followed. I do not interrupt how the body chooses to express itself. If I am in company then I am finding coping strategies, not to suppress, but to find some other outlet.
