Background

Yoga and meditation have always been an essential part of my life. I became interested in my mother's yoga books and her movement teaching from the age of three, when we start to develop awareness of our own bodies. I learnt to meditate when I was eight, as my mother was learning Transcendental Meditation in London. At the same time I was taught to dowse by my mother and this has proved a very useful skill.
I use dowsing to determine anything from watercourses to imbalances in personal health or the health of land and homes. Much like the body, the land around us and homes we inhabit have their own inimitable energy that affects our health and, just as the person is treated, homes and land can also be treated to facilitate healing.
After many career and educational changes throughout my twenties I was drawn towards bodywork and movement. I developed a profound interest in how we move, and how we react and respond to our environment, which in turn informs our true nature and our health throughout life.
I have trained extensively in healing and holistic massage, Thai massage and acupuncture. While running a busy practice I had a deep calling, that the facilitation of movement needed to be part of the healing process, hence the start of teaching yoga more formally some twenty-five years ago.
As I continue to practise, so my own awareness of our inner worlds and our connection to the outer world has become keener and more poignant. A constant, eager curiosity has taken me on a wonderful exploratory journey through many other systems of movement, ideas and philosophies, all of which encourage, in essence, the desire to be present, aware and connected.
Over the years I have been fortunate to be part of workshops and seminars with Elizabeth Pauncz, Angela Farmer and Victor Van Kooten, Diane Long, Sandra Sabatini, and Pete Blackaby. The journey continues with somatic and dance practices, Continuum, and trauma-informed yoga.
I am registered with the Independent Yoga Network as a Yoga Elder.
